Strategic News

Macroeconomic liquidity expansion continues to anchor risk asset valuations as markets enter September. Expectations for an aggressive September rate cut cycle by the Federal Reserve remain elevated, reinforced by cooling labor market metrics and a steady decline in core inflation trends. U.S. Treasury debt buyback operations continue to provide active liquidity injections into secondary markets, keeping benchmark bond yields subdued and driving capital toward hard, non-sovereign assets.

On the legislative front, momentum around state-level strategic Bitcoin reserves under the CLARITY Act framework is gaining traction. Draft legislation from several state treasury task forces is moving toward formal committee hearings for the upcoming legislative calendar, establishing clear custody and reserve protocols ahead of expected federal crypto market structure decisions in Q4.

Corporate Treasury & Institutional Drivers

Bitcoin opened the new trading month consolidating firmly above the $78,000 floor following a strong August close (+24% monthly gain). Spot prices ranged between $77,800 and $79,200 over the last 24 hours, absorbing minor profit-taking into the monthly roll before regaining upward momentum during early European hours.

Institutional demand via U.S. Spot ETFs remains resilient, maintaining a multi-week net positive inflow trajectory. Primary allocation desks report steady corporate treasury and RIA buying, absorbing daily miner supply and capping downside momentum at key order-book support levels.

Strategy (MSTR) Treasury Note: Strategy filed an SEC Form 8-K confirming the acquisition of 4,603 BTC for $369.7 Million (average price: $80,318/BTC) between August 24–30. Total holdings increased to 845,050 BTC (~$66.6 Billion at current spot; total cost basis: $63.73B at $75,412/BTC). The purchase was funded via $602.8M in ATM equity sales, with Strategy maintaining a $5.10 Billion USD Reserve and $1.61 Billion in USD Cash.

General Market Summary

Over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin traded within a tight, well-defined range, holding an intraday low of $77,800.00 before grinding upward to test $79,200.00 during early London trading hours.

Market microstructure remains structurally sound following Strategy’s confirmed resumption of spot accumulation and the August monthly close. Derivatives metrics—highlighted by a baseline Predicted Funding Rate (+0.0081%) and balanced Long/Short Ratio (1.10)—show that current price action is anchored by spot market accumulation rather than over-leveraged speculative positioning. With short liquidations ($26.8M) leading and passive limit bids cleanly absorbing sell orders near $78,000, holding above the $78,500 pivot level prepares market order books for another test of the $79,800–$80,000 resistance block as U.S. institutional desks open for September trading.

BTCSunrise Comments

It is evening for me here in Thailand. Next Monday I will be back in the United States. It’s been a really rewarding 6 weeks here as I conducted business, explored the culture, and got used to a really different way of life. I have really enjoyed being able to get so much code generation done for the website. Today I have been building a monitor that gets live data on Bitcoin and looks for a supported breakout. It helps when I write these comments if the market looks bullish, before I say anything, I can go check the daemon to see if its a real breakout or price collapse, or not. Friday and Saturday I believed the numbers were promising, and they were, but a lot of variables have to be in place for a sustained change in price occurs.

Now that we have the full month of August behind us I can update the price prediction model visualizaitons with complete data from actual high-low price variables. I present them below. Look though past newsletters to find the descriptions of the algorithms I used for the pricing models. Each model calculated 12 months starting in April, 10,000 times, and created the composite maps.

Each model uses a different simulation concept. Over the next year we will keep tracking actuals against the models to see how they performed. Two of the models say Bitcoin is under performing. RegimeEcho appears to think Bitcoin price is where it belongs after a period of growth.

Here is a preview of the BTC Alert Daemon I built. It’s purpose is to let me know when breakouts or crashes are teed up. It can run 24/7 (or until I run out of Gemini tokens) and it is in its teething phase. If you are interested in trying it for yourself, contact me on X @BTCSunrise.
