Strategic News
Macroeconomic liquidity metrics reflect an end-of-week stabilization as benchmark U.S. Treasury yields and crude oil prices pulled back, providing welcome relief to non-yielding risk assets and monetary alternatives. Despite persistent fiscal deficit pressures and stubborn yields throughout early October, broad market liquidity continues to draw vital structural support from the U.S. Treasury’s scheduled secondary bond buybacks. These operations continue to absorb long-dated sovereign paper, dampening credit market volatility and capping benchmark borrowing costs across institutional channels.
On the policy and statutory front, momentum for state-level strategic Bitcoin reserve frameworks remains active following the SEC’s recent submission of updated digital asset custody accounting guidelines to the OMB. Multi-state legislative working groups entering Q4 sessions are finalizing standardized multi-signature cold storage frameworks and auditing mandates. These state-level statutory initiatives provide clear operational pathways for municipal permanent funds to deploy spot digital asset allocations as a long-term inflation hedge, bypassing stalled federal timelines for the CLARITY Act.
Institutional ETF Flows & Liquidity Absorption
U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs snapped their multi-day inflow streak on Thursday, October 8, recording -$484.9 Million in aggregate net redemptions as institutional allocators executed tactical de-risking amidst a midweek spike in sovereign bond yields. Redemptions were led by BlackRock’s IBIT with -$207.7 Million and Fidelity’s FBTC with -$105.1 Million, alongside secondary outflows in ARKB (-$101.7M) and GBTC (-$39.3M).
- Net Daily Flow (Oct 08): -$484.90 Million (~5,880 BTC net redeemed).
- Macro Context: Thursday’s redemptions reflected a sharp shift in short-term institutional sentiment following two weeks of massive net creation (which absorbed over $2.5 Billion into late September).
- Absorption Dynamic: Total spot ETF net assets remain well-anchored above $108.5 Billion (~6.5% of total circulating supply), confirming that core institutional treasury holdings remain intact despite short-term secondary market rebalancing.
On-Chain Settlement & Cohort Dynamics
On-chain settlement metrics confirm that the market has established a firm structural floor after absorbing Thursday’s leverage flush down to $80,544:
- Short-Term Holder (STH) Realized Price: The dynamic cost basis for short-term buyers (coins moved within 155 days) sits at $76,865. Friday’s rebound near $82,520 maintains a healthy +7.3% unrealized profit buffer for recent market entrants, reinforcing the $80,500–$81,500 zone as generational structural demand.
- Exchange Reserves & Floating Supply: On-chain telemetry shows that despite Thursday’s ETF redemptions, exchange spot reserves did not see major secondary deposits, confirming that coins redeemed from primary desks were retained in custodial custody rather than dumped into exchange order books.
- Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR): Network SOPR dipped to 0.992 during Thursday’s low before rebounding back above 1.005 on Friday morning, validating that long-term conviction cohorts refused to distribute coins during the pullback to $80.5k.

General Market Summary
Over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin executed a clean technical bounce, recovering from Thursday’s multi-week low of $80,544.00 to push back above $82,600.00, before stabilizing constructively near $82,518.62 during European morning trade. The market rebound was fueled by a pullback in U.S. Treasury yields and easing geopolitical energy concerns, which helped restore risk appetite across global desks.
Microstructure telemetry indicates that the deleveraging event from Thursday’s -$484.9 Million ETF redemption shock has cleared speculative excess. Total Open Interest contracted to $29.80 Billion, while the Predicted Funding Rate (+0.0041%) and Long/Short Ratio (1.02) confirm that perpetual order books have returned to a completely neutral baseline. With the Short-Term Holder cost basis ($76,865) providing a deep structural bedrock and passive spot limit bid depth strongly protecting the $80,500–$81,500 floor, holding above $82,000 keeps market order books structured for a potential re-test of the $83,500–$84,800 resistance block into the U.S. weekend session.
BTCSunrise Comments
Good morning Risers!
A clean bounce shows that Bitcoin is resiliant in ways it wasn’t in the past. An absorbtion floor is taking all the cheap sats from the short sellers. If I had the dry powder I would be stacking the sats myself at these prices. In BTCSurnrise news, last night I got a system setup to do scoring of the pricing models I made. I have 6 different models to test out various theories of Bitcoin price discovery. I am running a 12 month tournament to see which ones do the best. While I was examining results, I noticed one model had a bug and was in last place. After an hour of trying to track it down the fix was rather simple. It fixed more than just what appeared to be a display issue and that model is in the top 3 now. It’s neck and neck for 2nd place. Being a one person show, I don’t have others to watch my work, so I have to rely on decades of experience to spot flaws. Hopefully that can change in a few months as I try to make this a real business.
And now for Friday’s UFO disclosure Report! New here? I run this every Friday. If actual disclosure happens its going to change the whole landscape of trust and put Bitcoin in a very important place in the World Economy. Enjoy! (oh and last friday’s disclosure report ended up being published on X so if you want to see that one look us up @btcsunrise)
