Normally, I won’t post anything on the weekend. However I wanted to give new viewers a reflection back on the week. If you bring up the chart of prices this week, you see there is a very clear line of regression, but it has a bump from Tuesday through Thursday. I wanted to reflect on that, it’s causes, and point our that the price snapped back to the line of regression very commandingly. What should your tactical response be when you see bad news? It depends upon your local strategy. If you are interested in fixing your dollar cost average, this situation is good for trying to snipe more assets at a discounted price. If you are holding, just keep holding. The market, according to Adam Smith is rational. That belief, in my 40 years of finance experience, has never been supported. Someone close to me last year was shocked at how much value was lost with NVDA when a rival AI showed up. My advice back then was, if you have the money, buy more NVDA. Panic selling, an opportunity to scalp the people irrationally selling. How did I know it was irrational? I’ve been in the business of building Machine Learning and AI systems since 2005. Which brings up another point. All of this data is nice but it is only really powerful if you have an understanding of the news driving the price. We used to gain that knowledge by studying hard, but now you can have long conversations with AI to gain a higher understanding. Always ask the AI for its confidence values, and for important things tell it to turn off linguistic flair and be neutral in it’s answers. You’ll get the best information that way, though it will be a lot drier than the snappy, witty anwers you are used to!
Here is the explanation for the last week’s price movement and what to expect for the weekend.
Tuesday to Thursday Price Factors
- Geopolitical Noise: Early-week geopolitical friction and risk-off sentiment briefly depressed broader risk appetites, though these concerns partially dissipated by Thursday, prompting an early relief bounce.
- Macro Stability and Seasonal Data: Spot selling slowed significantly compared to June, and on-chain metrics (such as a stabilizing Coinbase Premium Index) indicated a minor recovery in U.S. demand. Seasonality trends typical for July provided a baseline cushion.
- Regulatory Developments: On Tuesday, July 7, the SEC released its 2026 Regulatory Agenda, which includes proposed amendments for crypto assets, alternative trading systems, and broker-dealer custody safe harbors. Concurrently, news regarding potential digital asset legislation moving toward the Senate boosted structural optimism.
- Price Range: Bitcoin hovered primarily between $62,700 and $63,200 over this three-day window, attempting to solidify the $60,000 baseline as a critical pivot level.
Weekend Forecast
- Institutional ETF Stabilization: U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs snapped a significant losing streak, recording $90.4 million in net inflows on Friday, July 10, led by BlackRock and Fidelity. This return of institutional capital points to solid price consolidation over the weekend.
- Sideways Consolidation Baseline: Market sentiment remains fragile and technically oversold following sharp June liquidations. Analysts expect Bitcoin to maintain a steady bottoming process within the $58,000 to $64,000 corridor.
- Low Speculative Volatility: With institutional desks closing for the weekend and the immediate leverage spikes flushed out, the price is expected to experience a low-velocity, sideways grind rather than aggressive directional expansion.
Have a great weekend!
